Vivo Y81i With MediaTek Helio A22 Launched in Nepal

It’s official guys, Vivo Y81i has finally arrived in Nepal about 2 weeks after Vivo teased the launch of this phone. Vivo hasn’t launched any other phone within these two weeks; it just reduced the price of its popular V11 smartphone. As we guessed, it is priced well under the 20K mark at Rs. 18990. But, can it compete with other giants like Xiaomi and Samsung that have a stronghold on this market?

Vivo Y81i looks stylish enough for its price. However, its body is made up of plastic. Vivo Y81i sports a 6.22-inch HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio screen. The resolution is decent for the price. The display, as is the tradition nowadays, is cut by a notch at the top. Inside, Vivo Y81i is powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset combined with 2GB of RAM.

The A22 chip performs similarly to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chip. This means enough horsepower for daily calling and texting and a little bit of web browsing. But games won’t be a joy to play on this device. Similarly, 2GB RAM is a little on the low side. So, no intensive multitasking either.

Vivo Y81i Price in Nepal: Rs. 18,990

At the back, Vivo houses a single lens setup. It is a 13MP f/2.2 sensor. Just looking at the hardware and guessing from Vivo’s camera performance on its other handsets, this camera will click bright and colorful photos in daylight. For social media, it will be just fine. But it will suffer in low-light as is the case with almost all the phones at this price range. At the front, there’s a 5MP shooter that will be just fine for occasional pouts. If you are a selfie fanatic, this camera won’t satisfy you.

As you can see from the pictures, Vivo Y81i doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor. That is because Vivo has included a face unlock feature with the Y81i. How well this feature performs at night remains to be seen.

Overall, Vivo Y81i is a compelling package for the price. It faces a tough competition from phones like Oppo A3s, Xiaomi Redmi S2, and Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus. Xiaomi and Samsung have a better price to performance ratio than the A3s because of larger RAM and more powerful chipset used inside these phones. However, they lack the style that Vivo brings to the table. But design is subjective and you may like their no-notch approach better. Oppo A3s functions and looks similar to the Vivo Y81i. It’s priced similarly too. However, Oppo A3s does have a larger battery and a better front camera system. So, we think that Vivo Y81i is still not good enough than similarly priced phones from other manufacturers.
