CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research handed over a batch of equipment and computers to Kathmandu University during a function in Geneva.
Why it matters:
This is a significant cooperation between CERN and KU after the agreement was signed between Nepal and CERN in September in 2017. The total equipment includes 200 computer servers and 12 network switches. They will be used to set up a high-performance computing facility within the university.
The Backstory:
Back in December of 2013, KU organized International Particles Physics Masterclass with scholars from CERN. CERN has also been providing fellowship to science teachers and students for higher studies in physics.
