Cynical Technology, Kathmandu based cyber-security startup company in association with Kathmandu University Computer Club is organizing ‘NepHACK’, an ethical hacking competition, at IT MEET 2018.
NepHack is a penetration testing competition based on the Capture the Flag (CTF) framework where different teams would compete among each other for the ultimate title. The participants will be breaking the security vulnerabilities from the questions that would be provided to them. Whenever they hack any of the questions, they will come across a flag which would be the answer to the questions. All the questions will be weighted, and the points will be awarded according to the level of difficulty.
NepHack isn’t just giving a platform where computer security geek gets to test their networking and security skill, but also aim to show the Nepali computer security community the prospect that are slowly becoming available to them. They are building the pathway for people to have a deeper insight on these securities issue and consider computer security as a career foundation in Nepal.
The prize money for this hacking competition:
- 1st Prize: Rs. 20,000/-
- 2nd Prize: Rs. 10,000/-
- 3rd Prize: Rs. 5,000/-
Not just the money, but some of the participants would also get a chance to work at Cynical Technology as an intern, getting a chance to broaden their knowledge on the security sector.
