Samsung Mobile has a new addition to its TAB-series. Samsung Tab A has been recently launched in time for Christmas season. Speaking of the device, it comes at a mid-range price with typical hardware specs. Unlike flagship phones, tablets are mostly focused on multimedia consumption rather than day-to-day use. This is important before comparison of specs between Smartphone and Tablet. Samsung Tab A(2017) price in Nepal is Rs. 28,990.
Specification Outline
Samsung Tab A(2017) is powered by Snapdragon 425 with a quad-core processor. The internal storage is 16GB which is expandable. It runs on Android Nougat supported by 2GB RAM. The body is a full aluminum build. It supports network functionality with Nano-SIM card (2G/3G, texting). The front camera is 8MP, f/1.9 with LED and rear-camera is 5MP.
Galaxy Tab series is known for their giant display. This features a massive 8.0-inch IPS LCD Panel. Unfortunately, it supports only 800 x 1280-pixel resolution. The entire smartphone runs on Li-Ion 5000mAh battery. It comes with Samsung’s Bixby Home & new Kids mode.

Impression
Samsung Tab A(2017) is a mid-range device. Looking at the spec sheet, there is no place for complaining. At a similar price, modern smartphones easily beat this tablet. Basic sensors like gyroscope, the fingerprint reader is absent. The camera seems like an afterthought with poor specs.
Kids’ entertainment is the main focus. Kids Mode provides a safe digital playground. Stuff like educational games, parental-controlled environment is good for kids and parents. This is a tablet you buy for your kids; not for professional day-to-day activities.
I do recommend Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 for better hardware for a higher price tag.
