Nepal is now a state party to the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. Representing Nepal, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM)and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Krishna Bahadur Mahara signed the treaty in a formal ceremony held at the UN Headquarters, New York. The ceremony was held on the 72nd Sessions of the UN General Assembly.
DPM Mahara participated in the the ministerial meeting of the countries (G-77) of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). There, he spoke of the importance of dialogue to settle differences.
DPM Mahara also attended the 16th ministry level meeting of the Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) where he spoke on the need to increase partnership, technology transfer and investment for the meaningful participation of LLDCs in international trade.
In the same way, in the program on High-Level Open Debate on Peace Keeping, Mahara noted how Nepal is the sixth big countries of the world in mobilizing army and police for peace keeping missions.
