The proposed national action plan on open government data was handed to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba by the National Information Commission (NIC) on the 22nd of August.
This plan was prepared in accordance with the Right to Information Act 2064 Clause 19. It is developed as per the international standard to ensure no hindrances on use, reuse and distribution of information for transparency. The idea is to make the data available through the internet.
During the handover, Krishna Hari Banskota, NIC chief commissioner talked about the importance of forming new laws on the government side of this project.
And Prime Minister Deuba assured that he would put the necessary processes in motion to implement the action plan after studying it.
